As an educator Mary Ann McCabe Riehle has encouraged young students and adults to follow their dreams and tell their stories. In both classroom and conference settings she has shared her experiences as an author and enjoys helping writers of all ages tell their stories. Mary Ann has visited numerous classrooms and led professional workshops. She has been a featured speaker at awards banquets, graduation ceremonies, writing group meetings and several state reading association conferences.A highlight for her occurred in 2011 when The West Virginia Reading Association selected Mary Ann as the speaker for the Author’s Luncheon held at the historic Greenbrier in White Sulfur Springs. Before she addressed the group in the Crystal Room, she was made aware that she was standing in the very room where former Presidents had also addressed groups gathered there. In fact, the first presentation made in that room was to a group of magazine publishers in 1961. Mary Ann realized again that the writing and publishing process is a universal and timeless topic. She is a graduate of Xavier University with degrees in Communication Arts and Education. Mary Ann has published five books with Sleeping Bear Press. She is the author of two Discover America State-by-State Alphabet books: B is for Bluegrass: A Kentucky Alphabet and M is for Mountain State: A West Virginia Alphabet, A is for Airplane: An Aviation Alphabet and M is for Mom: A Child’s Alphabet. Mary Ann’s newest title, The Little Kids’ Table releases in September.
