Writing The Little Kids’ Table was such a joy. It brought back so many memories of sitting at a table surrounded by cousins and friends. I never minded sitting at the little kids’ table because we usually laughed our way through the meal and almost always got served first. The plan would be to have the kids eat and then go play. After that the parents would enjoy a relaxing, uninterrupted meal. Well, that plan didn’t always work! The noise level alone from the younger crowd could make the grown-ups’ meal anything but relaxing…even if their table with the fine china was located in the formal dining room on the other side of the house! There were times when I was writing the book that I could almost hear the noise of dishes and conversation and the general chaos of it all. But it is the laughter that I could “hear” loudest of all…even from some of the grown-ups.
